Crazy Random Playlist: Songs for Dr. Kevorkian's Waiting Room

Last week, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the doctor who assisted at least 130 people in committing suicide, passed away at the old age of 83. Now let me be clear... This blog does not aim to make any sort of social commentary or take any stance on the issue of assisted suicide... Not yet at least. Not until we're famous. No, I bring up all this up because his death brought one very simple question to my mind:

What music would he play in the waiting room?

I mean, think about it... If you're gonna see him, it's likely you'll have to wait a few minutes. You'll sit there... filling out forms or what have you. Maybe you're the type who's very early, so you have a long wait. You watch people walk in but don't come out. (If the walls are thin, maybe you hear screaming or chopping sounds... Kidding.) It seems like just sitting there in complete silence would be too harsh... Seems like it'd just be wrong to only be able to listen to Wendy, the Doctor's teenage secretary (who has her whole life ahead of her) blather on and on about her weekend plans and how she doesn't have the right shoes to go with that brilliant black dress. "Oh, I just wanted to die!" she inappropriately exclaims.

So, what would his waiting room music be? Would it be something soothing to quell your fears and uncertainty? Would it be whatever's on the radio to not make a big deal out of the situation? Or would it be something ridiculous and inappropriate to light up the mood?

Well, I've broken this playlist into two categories:

Songs to Sooth You

Sleep Don't Weep - Damien Rice
Goodnight Laura - Spoon
Redemption Song - Bob Marley
That I Would Be Good (unplugged version) - Alanis Morissette
My Way - Frank Sinatra
You'll Never Walk Alone - Ray Charles
Lille - Lisa Hannigan
Re: Stacks - Bon Iver

Inappropriate Songs to Lighten the Mood... because I am a terrible person
Dracula's Lament - Jason Segel (from Forgetting Sarah Marshall)
Down with the Sickness (cover) - Richard Cheese
Bodies - Drowning Pool
Hot in Here - Nelly (okay, granted, this one (and "Thong Song") really aren't appropriate for many settings)
Possum Kingdom - Toadies
Blaze of Glory - Bon Jovi
Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue
Gay Fish - "Kanye West" (from South Park)
Bohemian Rhapsody (cover) - The Muppets (I want this played at my funeral.)

Can't decide between a nazi doctor joke, a Skeletor joke, or an "the old man from Poltergeist" joke.
