Florence + The Machine - "No Light, No Light (Dave Sitek remix) "

Sitek who is most notable as a member of TV On The Radio and has worked with Foals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Jane's Addiction just made an otherwise not-so-danceable song into a pretty club friendly track. Take a listen below or here. Also, Florence recently covered Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black".

Whipped Cream of the Day

  • Radiohead released two songs recorded from King of Limbs: The Basement session; now both "Daily Mail" and "Staircase" can be heard online and bought at your local music retailer (which makes a great present!).

  • Thanks to Alison Mosshart's smoky stripped down vocals and dark lyrics, The Kills version of "Silent Night" is a different kind of holiday tune.

  • And for your ears to sparkle to, Michael Woods & Little Boots "I Wish" and Four Tet "Moma"

NEW Sleigh Bells - "Born To Lose"

Ladies and gentleman, from Reign of Terror (February 2012), the first single "Born To Lose". And if you were worried that the new album will be more of the old stuff, then this isn't for you. Rock on Alexis & Derek.

Whipped Cream of the Day

  • Club Paradise--sounds like just that which is the name of Drake's upcoming February-March tour around the country with Kendrick Lamar & A$AP Rocky. Be sure to join the party in Austin on 2/27.

  • Since 2007's Wincing The Night Away, The Shins have been AWOL; they left Sub Pop Records (the label behind their last three albums) and moved on to James Mercer's own titled Aural Apothecary. Well in March 2012, Port of Morrow will be released on said label with a tour I'm I'm sure will follow. Check out the cover artwork and track listing here at their website.

  • And for a viewing pleasure that I'm sure your eyes and ears will love you for, Lana Del Ray's video for "Born to Die".

Cloudy with a chance of Tweedy

Jack's Favorite Christmas Things

I love Christmas.  No... I fucking love Christmas.  I have my own Santa suit, for fucks sake.  For Hallowen, I've been Santa and a Christmas tree.  Good will and kindness and hope and buying shit that you can't afford for people who don't really need it... Love it all.  I love that Christmas brings out the decent in bad people, the great in good people and the best out of wonderful people.
And nothing puts me in the holiday spirit more than the onslaught of music, movies and special tv episodes for Christmas.  This post is about my personal favorite Christmas-related media.  And yes, coupled with all that good will and humanity is that wonderfully dark side that Christmas can offer.

Teaser Poster for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (2012)

Well, this certainly doesn't look good for Batman.  The character walking away is Bane.  In the comics, Bane is known mostly for doing one thing: "breaking the bat."  Yes, Bane broke Bruce Wayne's back in the Knightfall storyline.
In the comic book world, Bruce Wayne was fine after a few months.  In Christopher Nolan's "real" world...

Whipped Cream of the Day

  • Spring is near (kind of) which means our favorite musical acts will be back to tour this great land! M83 will be stopping by Stubbs 5/18, Coldplay is all over the place with a stop in Dallas on 6/22, and Sleigh Bells are bouncing around Florida in February. Many more to come, so I'll update when they are announced.

  • Earlier this week, a video began floating around of Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) doing some hip workouts with his trainer. Hoax or no hoax? It's the real thing! It's going to part of workout video series with "cool music instead of something stupid". There's no release date yet but when it comes out I expect you all to come over for a workout party, YEAH!

  • Aziz Ansari never ceases to amaze me in how ridiculously hilarious and awesome he can be. Here him and a friend present Jay-Z & Kanye West's "N*ggas In Paris" remixed with emojis. I suggest reading it with the song playing aloud.

Whipped Cream of the Day

  • Air's upcoming album La Voyage Dans La Lune (2/6) will feature a song with the gorgeous Victoria Legrand's vocals. The track "Seven Stars" can be heard at NME

  • Andrew Bird announced an upcoming album and tour coming this spring! Break It Yourself comes out in the US on March 6th, and if you buy a ticket to one of the shows, you'll get a free digital copy of the new album one day before its release and two five-song live EPs. WIN WIN!

Trailer for THE CABIN IN THE WOODS

THE CABIN IN THE WOODS is written and produced by nerd god, Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly, THE AVENGERS) and stars Chris Hemsworth (before he was Thor), Fran Kranz (Dollhouse... Yeah, I watched it) and a bunch of other people I don't know yet.

As for the trailer... I don't really know what the f*ck is happening, and I like that a lot.  I'm in.

Whipped Cream of the Day

  • Lana Del Rey revealed some fresh new album details today. Check out the album cover and listen to the first single "Born To Die", which is also the album title. Born To Die drops 1/31 in the US. "Blue Jeans" & "Video Games" have already been big hits on the blogosphere.

  • Alexis Krauss & Derek Miller of the noisiest pop group out there, Sleigh Bells, are back to literally terrorize (in a good way) our ears. Watch the teaser trailer for Reign of Terror.

  • Having not read the book, I'm still excited to see The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo come to life in theaters in a few weeks (12/21). The trailer is enough to blow your mind, full of big words stamped across the screen and loud Trent Reznor sounds & Karen O screams. You can now listen to a few of the tracks, so head over to Nine Inch Nails website to find out how.
